204th Sheffield Guides

About Us

Visitor number:

204th Sheffield Guides was founded in 1979, and the unit celebrated its 25th birthday in 2004. The Guide programme is for girls aged 10-15, and we are one of two Guide units in the Ecclesall district of Sheffield. In the District there are also two Rainbow units, for girls aged 5-7, three Brownie units, for 7-10 year olds, and a Ranger unit, for 14-25 year olds.

Girl Guiding is very popular in Ecclesall, and both Guide units have 35-40 members. This is probably due to our busy and exciting programme.

Guides work in groups of 4-8 girls called Patrols. 204th has six  Patrols. Most of the time they choose and plan their own activities; sometimes they work on activities chosen and planned by the leaders. Every term they also go out on trips to activities such as swimming, weaselling, bowling and dry slope skiing.

During their time in Guides girls also work towards badges as diverse as First Aid, Camper and Circus Skills, and towards a yearly Challenge badge. The highest award in the Guide section is the Baden-Powell Challenge, for which girls have to complete ten very different challenges, and take part in a residential weekend with girls from other units in the city. We are very proud that lots of girls from the 204th Sheffield Guides have completed this award.
